When I think of the word “buffoon,” the image of the elder, profligate Karamazov comes to mind. Or Nozdrev, from Dead Souls, or the fool from Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” However, when considering what might be considered to be modern media “buffoons” I am loathe to use the term. The epithet is too high for them. They wouldn’t be worthy to rub Fyodor Karamazov’s feet, or his balls. No, the words I must apply to the likes of Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and their sickening ilk are scumbag, toady, asskisser, pimp, whore or maybe bottomfeeder.
